New Era Mine

John Owen Gaumer (R) pictured with two workers in front of the New Era Mine near Pentz, California.  In 1935, J. O. (Jack) purchased the Jack and Jim Mine (established 1887) and renamed it the New Era Mine.  He mined there until retiring in 1959.  The mine consisted to two primary tunnels, the North and South works and utilized tracks and ore cars to bring the ancient alluvial gravel to the surface.
